The production of Halal food is not easy . To maintain the status of Halal food products it has to follow strict regulations and has to go through various adhered processes. This process doesn't only involve making of food stuff but also includes storing and distribution of the Halal food products .

The validity and expiry of Halal food products depends on the materials used for packaging too. An Australian manufacturer and developer of sustainable plastics for packaging has been certified as Halal for the food products . For example Cardia Bioplastics , has been succeeded in creating a wide range in turning resins into bio-hybrid resins from different types of renewable products which has been now certified and acknowledged under Islamic laws for surrounding safety and quality products.

Not only packaging the storage process is also done with great attention to separate the Halal and Non-Halal products in the supply chain so as to avoid the contamination issues in the storage process . Packaging is associated with many contamination issues. Many a times animal fat includes ingredients such as stearates which is at times similar to pork or other prohibited animals according to Sharia. This animal fat-based packaging lubricants are used in the process in replacement of paper-based material which leads to contamination of Halal food products. Quality control is now extended to packaging so as to avoid the issues which arises of using recycled paper which might contain some pork residues from its before use .

Many advances are made to boycott this problem . Companies like Genetic ID Europe possesses testing procedures for complex products. This can help to assure that not only food contents are analysed but also packaging contents are so as to avoid the prohibited substances in contaminating the Halal food product. There has been a tremendous growth in Halal trade for food and beverages Trade Show in dubai . A mixed supply chain has come into formation because of the same facilities used by the manufacturing and producing of Halal food products . Islamic agencies like JAKIM in Malaysia has taken taken initiative to certify only those companies who provide separation facilities for Halal and Non-Halal products.

Not only for storage but also distribution of Halal food is taken care off . Heavy investment is done to ensure smooth transportation and dissemination and more specific and separated logistical facilities. The reason why there is a need of separation of transportation and storage in retailing process is to avoid contamination , misuse and mistakes and also to fulfil the expectations of Halal-observant for the Muslims.

There are stricter regulations and laws for the process of Halal Products . The process of technology for identifying chemical ingredients and to implement the same has to be done with safety and this will turn easier in the long run.
